Niedźwiedzica (German Bärwalde ) is a village in Gmina Stegna in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . In 2012 there were 242 residents here.
It is located on the Gdańsk Bay 26 kilometers southeast of Gdansk and 10 kilometers northwest of Nowy Dwór (Tiegenhof).
history
The place was founded in 1342 by Grand Master Ludolf König of the Teutonic Order. Flemish Mennonites settled here in 1570 .
Since 1773 the place belonged to the province of West Prussia . In 1820, 69 out of 256 inhabitants were Mennonites. In 1920 Bärwalde came to the area of the Free City of Danzig . It has belonged to Poland since 1945.
