The listed Christ Church is the Protestant church in the district of Waffenrod / Hinterrod in the town of Eisfeld in the Thuringian district of Hildburghausen .

history

In December 1927, the neighboring communities of Waffenrod and Hinterrod decided to build a common church on the site of the existing common cemetery. On March 1, 1928, both parishes left the Crock parish with their consent and formed their own parish . The foundation stone for the new church was laid on June 17, 1928, the topping-out ceremony on August 3, 1928, and the church was consecrated on the 1st of Advent 1928.

In 1939 the large bronze bell of the peal had to be delivered and melted down for use in the war. It was replaced by a steel bell in 1957. The organ, dating from 1864 and acquired by the Rauenstein parish in 1928 , had to be shut down in 1990 and was replaced in 1991 by a positive organ made by the Stadtilm master organ builder Schönefeld .

After the church renovation was completed, on September 18, 2004, the building was named Christ Church .

Architecture and equipment

According to a design by the Arnstadt architect Schwarz , a building was created in the neo-Romanesque style with arched windows and a large rider's tower , in which originally a large and a smaller bronze bell hung, the larger of which was replaced by a steel bell in 1957. The church has had an electric bell since 1991.

There is a stained glass window above the altar showing the head of Christ on a cross.
