Waffenrod / Hinterrod is a district of the town of Eisfeld in the Thuringian district of Hildburghausen . It is made up of the places Waffenrod (350 inhabitants) and Hinterrod (175 inhabitants).
geography
Both places are located north of Eisfeld in a clearing in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park , on a high plateau in the Thuringian Slate Mountains at around 700 meters above sea level, almost 800 m apart. Landesstraße 2053 , which leads from Eisfeld to Masserberg , runs through Hinterrod, which is further south .
history
The places Waffenrod and Hinterrod were created in a medieval clearing period in the 11th / 12th. Century, hence the place name broadcast -rod . Both places were first mentioned in documents in the 1330s.
Waffenrod / Hinterrod has been part of Eisfeld since 1993.
