Weitesfeld is located east of Sachsenbrunn on Kreisstrasse 520 in the southern foothills of the Thuringian Slate Mountains .
history
Weitesfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1341.
Weitesfeld was persecuted by witches in 1629 . Michel Morgenroth got into a witch trial and was burned.
On July 1, 1950, the communities of Tossenthal and Weitesfeld were merged to form the new community of Weitesthal . This was incorporated into the community of Sachsenbrunn on April 1, 1974, which in turn was incorporated into Eisfeld on January 1, 2019.
70 people lived in the hamlet-like village (2012).
