Stelzen is a district of the town of Eisfeld in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

Stelzen lies at the foot of the Bleßberg in the Thuringian Slate Mountains at an altitude of 673 meters above sea level. Stelzen can be reached by public transport via county road 528. The river Itz rises in a grotto on the edge of the village .
history
The Marienkirche used to be a pilgrimage chapel . It was expanded in 1467 and rebuilt in 1650. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1340.
In 1957 Stelzen was incorporated into Schirnrod , but became an independent municipality again in 1961. The place belonged to the municipality Sachsenbrunn since April 14, 1994 and had 83 inhabitants. On January 1, 2019, Stelzen came to the city of Eisfeld as part of the incorporation of Sachsenbrunn.
