Sophienau is a settlement of Eisfeld in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .
Sophienau is located northeast of Sachsenbrunn in a narrow mountain valley on the southern edge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1724. The reason was the establishment of a blue paint factory. In the 19th century the settlement was incorporated into Schwarzenbrunn .
