Chromidotilapia ( Gr .: "Chroma" = color + tilapia (African cichlid genus)), German magnificent perch , is a genus of the cichlid family (Cichlidae) that grows in tropical West Africa from Cavally on the border between Liberia and the Ivory Coast to the estuary of the Congo and Lualaba (Upper Congo).

Chromidotilapia species become 10 to 20 cm long, females remain slightly smaller. Your body is moderately high back and flattened on the sides, the head is relatively long. Generic characteristics are strong warty protuberances consisting of glandular and sensory cells on both sides of the gullet, which probably play a role in the intake of food. These structures are present in all cichlids, but are particularly well developed in Chromidotilapia . The gill spines in the lower section of the first gill arch are tubercle-like. The pelvic fins are long, the caudal fin rounded. There are usually 16 (less often 14) scales around the tail fin stalk.
All Chromidotilapia species are mouthbrooders . Both sexes take part in brood care and take the eggs in their mouths.
