Chrystabel Leighton-Porter (according to other information: Christabel Leighton-Porter ; born April 11, 1913 in Eastleigh , Hampshire , England ; † December 6, 2000 in Horsham , West Sussex , England) was an English model who was portrayed by the cartoon characters Jane and whose portrayal in a film became famous.

Live and act

Leighton-Porter was born as Christabel Jane Drewry with her twin sister, the youngest of eleven children. After finishing school, she was already in their teens artist model, as it is considered mannequin in the fashion industry was not big enough. When Norman Pett , the illustrator of the comic figure Jane , who has been appearing since 1932, was looking for a new model at the end of the 1930s because his wife Mary no longer wanted to be available to him, Leighton-Porter was chosen. He discovered her when Leighton-Porter was a model in an art school in Birmingham , where she also worked as a telephone operator. Through her modeling work, Leighton-Porter gained such popularity that she received the title of "Britain's Perfect Girl" at the London Palladium and went on tour with a comic-based burlesk show from the early 1940s . In 1949 she played the title role in the comic book adaptation The Adventures of Jane .

Leighton-Porter died in 2000 of complications from cancer. From 1934 until her death she was married to an engineer with whom she had a son.
