Chung Hoon (born April 29, 1969 ) is a former South Korean judoka . He was Olympic third in 1992 and world champion in 1993 in lightweight, the weight class up to 71 kilograms.

Athletic career

Chung Hoon won the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing. At the 1991 World Championships in Barcelona he was defeated in the quarterfinals by Vladimeri Dgebuadze from the Soviet Union. He secured a bronze medal with victories in the hope round over Dan Hatano from the United States, the French Patrick Rosso and the Hungarian Bertalan Hajtós . In November 1991 he won the Asian Championships in Osaka.

In early 1992, Chung Hoon won the Tournoi de Paris . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he won his first four fights, in the semifinals he lost to Bertalan Hajtós after 4:54 minutes. The fight for a bronze medal against the French Bruno Carabetta ended with Yusei-gachi (referee decision) in favor of the South Korean.

At the 1993 World Championships in Hamilton, Chung Hoon won the semi-finals against the French Patrick Rosso, in the final he defeated Bertalan Hajtós. In 1994 he won the Goodwill Games in Saint Petersburg and won the title at the Asian Games in Hiroshima in 1994 .

Chung Hoon later coached the South Korean national team.
