Chung Jae-won ( Korean : 정재원, 鄭 在 源 ; * June 21, 2001 ) is a South Korean speed skater .

Career

Chung started in the World Cup in Heerenveen at the beginning of the 2017/18 season . There he finished seventh in the B group over 5000 m and achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place in the mass start. This was followed by further participation in the B group and a ninth place in the mass start in Salt Lake City . At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the silver medal in the team pursuit and also took eighth place in the mass start. In March 2018 he won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Salt Lake City and the gold medal in the team pursuit and finished tenth in the mass start World Cup at the end of the season.
