Cianide is an American death doom and death metal band from Chicago , Illinois , that was formed in 1988.

history

The band was formed in 1988 by singer and bassist Mike Perun and guitarist Scott Carroll. The first two demos Funeral and Second Life followed before Jeff Kabella joined the band as the new drummer. This was followed by the debut album The Dying Truth via Grind Core International in 1992, which was followed by A Descent Into Hell in 1994 . It also contained a cover version of Slaughters Death Dealer . After drummer Kabella had been replaced by Andy Kuizin, the band went into the studio in late 1995 to record the demo Rage War , which was released in 1996 and was later to be re-released on Cyronics Records . The following year the next album Death, Doom and Destruction was released , which included Jim Bresnahan as the second guitarist. The album Divide and Conquer followed in 2000 via Merciless Records . After that, Bresnahan left the band again, which reduced the group to a trio again. In 2005 the next album Hell's Rebirth followed , which was followed by the 2011 album Gods of Death .

style

According to Allmusic , the band was heavily influenced by groups like Hellhammer , Celtic Frost , Venom and Death . According to Gregor Arndt from Metal Hammer, the band plays old-school death metal on A Descent into Hell , and the music is "as current and original" as "Hellhammer was in 1994". According to Robert Müller from Metal Hammer, the band play classic Death Metal on Hell's Rebirth , with Cianide slipping into Doom Metal again and again .
