The Ciclone-class was a torpedo boat- class used by the Italian Navy during World War II . The ships were an enlarged version of the Orsa class with improved stability and more powerful anti-submarine armament. Although they were usually referred to as torpedo boats, the construction of the Ciclone-class boats was more of an escort destroyer and was therefore mainly used for anti -submarine defense.
A total of 16 ships were built between 1942 and 1943 at various shipyards in Italy, 11 of which did not survive the war.
