Ciclopica
Ciclopica is a white wine variety . It is a new breed between Bicane x Pirovano 19. The cross took place in Rome in 1912 by the breeder Alberto Piròvano . In a first publication, Piròvano mistakenly stated the crossing partners Pirovano 17 x Pirovano 14. He used Ciclopica to breed the Impero variety .

Parentage: Bicane x Pirovano 19. Pirovano 19 is itself a cross between the Regina x Terre promise blanche varieties (also called Neheleschol ).

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is hairy and of a light green color. The young leaves are also hairy like a cobweb and spotted copper.
- The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and clearly indented (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open in a V-shape. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are set very closely compared to other grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called the leaf blade) is finely blistered. Overall, the leaf is similar to that of the Bicane variety.
- The cone-shaped grape is very large (approx. 28 cm long), winged on one side and with loose berries. The elongated berries are very large and whitish in color.
The variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late. Ciclopica is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
