The Cisneros Order ( es. Orden de Cisneros ) was founded on March 8, 1944 by the Spanish head of state Francisco Franco and was an award of the Falange movement. It was bestowed by the general secretary of the movement on people who had made a contribution to the "spiritual development of the country".

Order classes

The order was donated in five classes as well as an assilated medal and the number of members was limited:

The 1st and 2nd class of the Order were awarded by the decree of the Caudillo Francisco Franco on the proposal of the General Secretary of the Movement. The remaining classes by ministerial decree on behalf of the head of state Franco. With the award of the 1st and 2nd class, the entrusted were to be addressed with excellence and bearers of the Commander's Cross with breast star with the title Honored Gentlemen . The collar itself consists of a sequence of crosses and palm trees, in the middle of which the cross described is attached.

Appearance and wearing style

Medals

The religious character along the lines of St John of Malta is a red enamel, consisting of four rand gold cross angles Maltese Cross (also called Columbus Cross), with eight points, all of which are decorated with a small golden ball. In the middle of the center is the St. John's eagle in black enamel with golden edges and indicated plumage, which is holding an empty yoke in its claws . Together with the two bundles of five golden arrows pointing upwards, each shown in the lower cross angles, they form the symbol of the Falange. The eagle's head, the beak of which is enamelled in red, rests on a golden, Christian, round halo.

Collane

The 1st class as a collar consists of a sequence of crossed golden palm ornaments, red Maltese crosses (without an eagle placed in the middle) and the St. John's eagle in the following order from left to right: crossed palm ornament - Maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle - palm ornament - Maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle - palm ornament - maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle - palm ornament - maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle - palm ornament - maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle - palm ornament - maltese cross - palm ornament - eagle, which represents the suspension to the underlying order symbol. In total, the chain consists of six Maltese crosses, six eagles and twelve palm ornaments.

Grand Cross

The Grand Cross was carried on a 101 mm wide cardinal red ribbon from the right shoulder to the left hip. The whole thing is then entwined with a rosette that has the same color as the ribbon. The medal is attached to this rosette. At the same time, the medal is worn as a breast star on the left side of the breast of the entrant.

Commander's Cross

The Commander's Cross, which by the way has the same dimensions as the Grand Cross, with a breast star (which has the shape of the same medal only with silver arrows) shows the just mentioned medal on a 30 mm wide cardinal red collar, in the center of which the upper cross arm is pointing upwards tapering golden ornament is located. A small, horizontally pierced golden ball is placed on its tip, through which a ring eyelet runs. A kind of jump ring is attached to it, through the middle of which the collar runs.

Knight's cross

The 5th class as a ribbon order is slightly smaller than the commander's cross and shows the order symbol described above. A golden, tapering ornament is attached to its upper cross corner, on the tapering tip of which a golden and vertically pierced ball can be seen. However, there are also variants with a smooth holding device. The ring eyelet is attached to it. As usual with the Spanish ribbon orders, the ribbon is finished in cardinal red with a golden clasp. The transverse needle with a counter-hook is then located on the back of the device. The gold medal was worn on the left chest of the borrower.

Gold medal

The gold medal with a diameter of approx. 37 mm (without ring) shows in the middle on its front the embossed sign of the order described above, which is completely gold-plated and is surrounded by a finely fluted edge. A small golden ball is attached to its upper side, which was pierced vertically in order to attach the ring eyelet to it. The ribbon itself is 34 mm wide and is cardinal red. The back is kept smooth. As with the knight's cross of this order, the ribbon is finished with a golden clasp. The transverse needle with a counter-hook is then located on the back of the device. The gold medal was worn on the left chest of the borrower.

Others

On the 20th anniversary of the Spanish popular uprising on July 18, 1956, a total of 22 people were honored with the Grand Cross.
