The Citarum is the longest and largest river in the Indonesian province of Jawa Barat . It is the third longest river in West Java after the Brantas and Solo rivers . It is used for agriculture, fishing, cleaning and industry.
The Citarum feeds the Jatiluhur Reservoir, which is used by the Jatiluhur Dam to generate energy.
pollution
Due to the high pollution of industrial waste , especially sewage from textile factories, and the continuous disposal of household waste into the river, the river is now one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Since November 2011, attempts have been made to rid the river of its pollution and restore it completely. The government has made the equivalent of 3.5 billion euros available for this project.
