The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper ( German  'Joan-Gamper-Sportstadt' ) is the training ground of the Spanish club FC Barcelona . It is located in Sant Joan Despí , about five kilometers from Camp Nou , and is named after the club's founder, Joan Gamper .

The 13.7 hectare area is divided into four main areas: the training grounds, a multisport hall, the main building and a building for the changing room. The area includes nine football fields, four of which are artificial turf and one small field. The multisport hall contains three playing fields for basketball, which can also be used by handball or futsal players.

The training area was opened on June 1, 2006. It was initially used by the youth teams as a training area and home for regular matches. Other sports sections of the club, e.g. B. the basketball, handball or futsal department carry out their training units in the multisport hall. The first team in the football department has been training here since January 19, 2009, usually behind closed doors. Before that, she trained for thirty years in close proximity to Camp Nou and La Masia .

In September 2011, La Masia , the club's youth academy, is also due to move into a newly constructed building in Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The cost of building Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper amounted to 42.5 million euros, plus a further 25.6 million euros for urbanization . As early as 1989, the then club president Josep Lluís Núñez planned the construction of the sports facility. Problems with the financing, the owners of the site and the public facilities meant that another six years passed between the laying of the foundation stone in late 2000 and completion.

In November 2018, the completion of the Estadi Johan Cruyff is planned on the site where the second team, the A-youth and the women's team will play their home games.
