Cléber Monteiro de Oliveira (born May 23, 1980 in Belo Horizonte ) is a Brazilian football player . He has been playing for Nacional Funchal in the SuperLiga , the highest Portuguese division , since 2003 .

Career

Monteiro began his career at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , which he left in 2003 for Nacional Funchal . In its first season, the club was eleventh in the top Portuguese division. With fourth place in 2003/04 you could qualify for the UEFA Cup the following year. The central midfielder made his debut at European club level on September 16, 2004 against Spain's Sevilla FC in the first round. The first leg in Seville was lost 0-2. Monteiro saw a yellow card. In the end you were eliminated. This season they came in a disappointing twelfth place in the championship. Monteiro was a regular player in the following seasons and with fourth place in 2008/09 the success of 2004 could be repeated.
