Clan Gunn

Gunn is the name of a Scottish clan originating from Caithness and Sutherland in the far north of the British Isles.

history

The progenitor is Olaf the Black , a Norwegian king of the 13th century. Hereditary enemies of the Gunns were the Keith von Ackergill in the 15th and 16th centuries , which led to ongoing feuds until the Gunn fought alongside the Keith also with the Earls of Caithness and Sutherland and were defeated by their enemies at Lochbroom in 1585 .

The clan's motto is Aut pax aut bellum ("War or Peace").
