Clara Rommel-Hohrath (born December 17, 1873 in Barmen (now part of Wuppertal ), † January 10, 1962 in Murrhardt ) was a German writer .

Life

The writer Clara Hohrath has largely been forgotten. Clara Rommel, who kept her maiden name Hohrath as her artist name, was born on December 17, 1873 in Barmen, which was an independent town until 1929 (now part of Wuppertal ). After she got married, the author, whose sister Ottilie was also a writer, lived in Obertürkheim near Stuttgart from 1910 and became known as a children's and young adult book author, especially through her books for girls. Her youth book “Hannelore discovers the big city” was recently rediscovered. It depicts the dawn of modern times as a letter novel and describes Stuttgart from the perspective of an adolescent.

Her daughter was the writer Alberta Rommel (1912-2001).
