Clarence Platt took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris in a trap . In the team competition, he took first place with the US team ahead of Canada and Finland. With a total of 363 points and thus three points ahead, the Americans, whose team consisted of Frank Hughes , Fred Etchen , John Noel , Samuel Sharman and William Silkworth , narrowly secured the gold medal. Platt was the team's weakest shooter with 74 points. Since the two worst shooting results were not included in the total number of points, Platt's result was canceled, but like all other team members he became Olympic champion .

Platt was a stonemason by trade.
