John Hopkins Noel (born February 6, 1888 in Nashville , † November 4, 1939 ) was an American sports marksman .

John Noel took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris in a trap . In the team competition, he took first place with the US team ahead of Canada and Finland. With a total of 363 points and thus three points ahead, the Americans, whose team also consisted of Frank Hughes , Fred Etchen , Clarence Platt , Samuel Sharman and William Silkworth , narrowly secured the gold medal. Noel was the team's second weakest shooter with 87 points. Since the two worst shooting results were not included in the total number of points, Noel's result was deleted, but he was still Olympic champion like all other team members .
Noel was a real estate entrepreneur and operator of Noel Hotel & Garage .
