Clarence Seay
Clarence Seay (* 7. January 1957 in Washington, DC ) is an American jazz - bassist and composer .
Live and act
Seay attended the Duke Ellington School of Arts in Washington DC and then studied at Howard University in the early 1980s . Fellow students were Wallace Roney , Gregory Charles Royal and Geri Allen . He was Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia for ten years .
Seay played 15 years in the quintet of Wallace Roney and also with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Wynton Marsalis , Billy Harper , in the quintet of Chico Freeman (with whom he also toured in Europe and Germany in 1983, with Wallace Roney), Lou Donaldson (1986 European tour) and the Smithsonian Jazz Works Orchestra.
He has recorded with the Wallace Roney Quintet, Billy Harper, Cindy Blackman , Piotr Wojtasik , Wynton Marsalis and Gregory Charles Royal ( Dream Come True , with Geri Allen).
