Clarkston ( Gaelic : Baile Chlarc ) is a village in the Scottish council area East Renfrewshire . It is located in the triangle between the southern districts of Glasgow and the cities of East Kilbride and Newton Mearns about eight kilometers south of Glasgow city center.
In 1881 there were 763 inhabitants in Clarkston. By 1971 the number had increased to 8,404. During the 2011 census, 9,371 people lived there. The Villa Greenbank House is a building of the highest Scottish monument category A in Clarkston.

The village is connected to the road network via the A726 , which connects Strathaven via East Kilbride with the M8 at Paisley . With the M77 , a freeway passes Clarkston a few kilometers to the west. As early as the 19th century, Clarkston was connected to the railway network via its own station. The route led from Glasgow via the neighboring Busby to East Kilbride. Today the station is served on the Glasgow South Western Line . In 2011 around 516,000 passengers used the station.
