Claude Gonçalves (born April 9, 1994 in Ajaccio ) is a Portuguese - French football player who is currently under contract with ES Troyes AC .

Career

society

Gonçalves began playing football at the age of five at CA Propriano in his hometown of Ajaccio on the French island of Corsica . In 2007 he was accepted into the youth department of AC Ajaccio, where he went through the various age groups. The midfielder was used in various positions to increase his playful versatility. He later found his main role in defensive midfield, where his technical skills and aggressive style of play proved to be particular strengths. At the same time as his football training, he attended school and obtained a technical high school diploma in 2011 ( baccalauréat STG ). In 2012 he was accepted into the fifth-class reserve team at the ACA, in which he was then regularly called up. In the run-up to the 2013/14 season, he signed a professional contract initially limited to one year for the AC Ajaccio first division team.

On September 21, 2013 he was substituted on in a 2-0 defeat by Stade Rennes in the second half and thus made his debut in the top French division. Four days later he was in the starting line-up for the first time against Olympique Lyon . In the further course of the season he was regularly called up, even if he did not take a permanent place. This eventually led to his receiving a three-year contract with the professionals. However, in 2014 he had to accept the relegation of his team to the second division. He was then able to further establish himself at the ACA, while the Corsicans got into the relegation battle again and the fall into the third division in 2015 and 2016 could only just be averted.

National team

Gonçalves is in principle eligible to play for both Portugal and France. On February 5, 2014, he made his debut for the Portuguese U-20 national team in an encounter against Slovakia and played for this national team several times in the following time.
