Claude Louis Michel de Sacy

Claude Louis Michel de Sacy (born March 27, 1746 in Fécamp ; † October 15, 1794 ) was a French writer.

Life

Claude Louis Michel de Sacy was a French writer whose main work is a large-scale historical work, but who also wrote novel prose, plays, poems of ideas, and political writings. He was a member of the academies of Caen, Arras and Göttingen . At times he was a representative of the royal censorship authority ( censeur royal ). He was a contributor to the supplement volumes to the Encyclopédie , which appeared in 1776 under the direction of Panckoucke. During the French Revolution he was a member of the National Convention ( convention nationale ) and wrote several political papers in this context.
