Claude Ruelle

Claude Ruelle (born November 20, 1923 in Brussels ) is a former Belgian diplomat .

Life

Claude Ruelle is the son of Emilie Sligot and the businessman Albert Ruelle. He married Hildegard Schaeben in 1979. He holds a master's degree in consular and commercial missions and a bachelor's degree in social sciences. In 1955 he was the rapporteur of the European Commission on the Saar referendum in Saarbrücken . From 1956 to 1958 he was second class embassy secretary in Montevideo . From 1959 to 1960 he was first class secretary of the embassy in Guatemala City . 1961-1963 he was chargé d'affaires in San José , 1964-1965 Consul General in Kananga District Kasai province, 1966-1967 Counselor in Kinshasa , 1968-1969 Ambassador in Cologne , 1973-1976 Ambassador to Bujumbura in Burundi .

From 1977 to 1979 he was employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels. From 1980 to October 6, 1981, he was ambassador to Cairo. On October 6, 1981, he was hit by two bullets when Anwar al-Sadat was shot. From 1982 to 1985 he was ambassador to Luxembourg and from 1986 to 1989 he was consul general in Zurich.
