Claude de Thiard de Bissy

Claude de Thiard de Bissy (born October 13, 1721 in Paris , † September 26, 1810 in Pierre-de-Bresse ) was a French nobleman, general and member of the Académie française .

Life

Claude de Thiard, Count von Bissy, was a descendant of the family of the poet Pontus de Thiard from Bissy-sur-Fley . He was the great-nephew of Cardinal Henri Pons de Thiard de Bissy , the older brother of General Henri de Thiard de Bissy (1723-1794) and the father of General Auxonne-Marie-Théodose de Thiard , Count of Bissy. In 1750, at the age of 29, he was elected to the Académie française (seat no. 12) and was a member of it for 60 years. He was particularly interested in English literature. He died in 1810 at the age of 88.
