Claudia Bickmann

Claudia Helene Dorothea Bickmann (born August 22, 1952 in Aachen ; † April 30, 2017 ) was a German philosopher and from 2002 to 2017 she held the chair for philosophy at the University of Cologne . Her main research interests were ancient philosophy, Kant and German idealism, philosophy of religion, aesthetics, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology and consciousness theory, ontology and intercultural philosophy.

Life

Bickmann studied philosophy, German , political science and education at the universities of Marburg, Hamburg, Bremen and Munich . She was visiting professor in Cairo, Alexandria, El-Menya, New Delhi and Prague.

Claudia Bickmann was Managing Director of the Philosophical Seminar at the University of Cologne from 2003 to 2004; from 2004 president of the Society for Intercultural Philosophy (GIP). Since 2006 she has been a board member of the Center for Modern Research at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Cologne. From 2006 to 2011 Bickmann was a member of the board of the German Society for Philosophy (DGPhil), since 2009 she was a board member of the International Confucius Association (ICA) in Beijing .

Bickmann was buried on May 10, 2017 in the Königsdorf-Nord cemetery.
