Claudio Franzius

Claudio Franzius (* 1963 in Hanover ) is a German lawyer and professor at the University of Bremen .

Life

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart in 1983 and the subsequent community service in Frankfurt am Main, Franzius studied ethnology and political science at the universities of Frankfurt am Main and Berlin from 1985 to 1988 . From 1986 he also studied law at the Free University of Berlin and the Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier . In 1992 he passed his first state examination in law and the second in 1995. From 1994 Franzius worked as a research assistant for Michael Kloepfer at the Humboldt University in Berlin . There he completed his PhD in 1999. iur. from. From 2004 Franzius worked as a research assistant to Ulrich K. Preuß at the Free University of Berlin. There he completed his habilitation in 2009 and received the venia legendi for the subjects constitutional and administrative law, European law and administrative sciences. From 2009 to 2016 Franzius represented chairs at the universities of Frankfurt am Main, Konstanz , Bremen , Bielefeld , Bochum and Hamburg . Franzius has been Professor of Public Law, in particular Administrative Law and Environmental Law, at the University of Bremen and Head of the Research Center for European Environmental Law since 2016.

Since 2009 he has been a co-organizer of the discussion group "Law and Politics in the European Union", which works together with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation . In 2012, together with Ulrich K. Preuß, he presented a study on "The future of European democracy" for the Heinrich Böll Foundation .
