Claudio Garella (born May 16, 1955 in Turin , Italy ) is a former Italian football goalkeeper .
Player career
Garella made his debut for Torino in the 1972/73 season when he was substituted on for the last ten minutes of the Serie A match against Vicenza Calcio . This remained the only game for the club as the young goalkeeper moved to AS Casale after the season . There he stayed for two years, played with the club in Serie D and C . He then went to Novara Calcio and stayed there for a year before moving to Lazio . At Lazio he was mostly only a substitute goalkeeper in two years. Because of this, he moved to Serie B at Sampdoria Genoa for three years . He performed well in Genoa and was therefore signed by Hellas Verona after three years . In the first season with Verona, he was promoted to Serie A. Garella became a regular goalkeeper at the club and surprisingly won the championship with him in his last season. Then he moved to SSC Napoli where he played with Diego Maradona and won the double in the 1986/87 season. He then stayed in Naples for another year and then moved to Serie B for Udinese Calcio . From Serie B the promotion to Serie A succeeded, from which the club, however, directly relegated again. Garella left the club and moved to US Avellino , which also played in Serie B and ended his career there after one season.
