Claudio Micheloni (* 1. September 1952 in Campli , province of Teramo ) is an in Switzerland living abroad Italian politicians .

Life

In 1960 Claudio Micheloni emigrated from Italy with his family and settled in Cortaillod in the canton of Neuchâtel , where he still lives today. As an immigrant , Claudio Micheloni, who is a civil engineering draftsman by profession , got involved early on in the socio-political area and held various offices in several organizations and committees.

Sociopolitical career

In 1976 he founded the Association of Emigrants from Abruzzo in Switzerland (Federazione Emigrati Abruzzesi in Svizzera, FEAS) and was its first president.

From 1991 to 2006 he was a member of the General Council of Italians Abroad (Consiglio Generale degli Italiani all'Estero, CGIE) in Rome. From 1998 to 2004 he was a member of the Presidential Committee and from 2004 to 2006 President of the State, Regions and Autonomous Provinces Commission of the CGIE. At the same time, from 1995 to 2001 he was Vice-President of the Regional Council for Emigration and Immigration of the Abruzzo Region in Pescara (Consiglio Regionale per l'Emigrazione e l'Immigrazione della Regione Abruzzo, CREI).

From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the Federal Commission for Foreigners (EAK) in Bern. This commission of experts, founded by the Federal Council in 1970 , was directly assigned to the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP) and advised the Federal Council and the department on migration issues . From 2002 to 2006 Claudio Micheloni was Secretary General of the Forum for the Integration of Migrants (FIMM) in Bern.

Since 1997 Claudio Micheloni has been President of the Federazione delle Colonie Libere Italiane in Svizzera (FCLIS) and a member of the executive board of the Federazione Italiana Lavoratori Emigrati e Famiglie (FILEF) in Italy. Since 2005 he has also been a member of the executive board of the Federazione Italiana Emigrazione Immigrazione (FIEI) in Italy.

Political career

The change in Italian electoral law in 2002, which introduced constituencies abroad and gave Italians abroad their own parliamentary seats, gave Claudio Micheloni the opportunity to run for a seat in parliament in the 2006 Italian parliamentary elections. With these he stood for the Democratici di Sinistra and reached the entry into the Italian Senate .

In the early parliamentary elections of 2008 Claudio Micheloni was re-elected as a representative of the Partito Democratico .
