Claus Lessmann (born September 11, 1960 in Ingolstadt ; actually Claus Leßmann ) is a German singer and guitarist who is best known as the former frontman of the hard rock band Bonfire .

Life

Claus Lessmann first played in several school bands before joining the band Cacumen, founded in 1972 by Hans Ziller, in 1978. After three albums under the Latin name, they switched to the more easily pronounced name Bonfire in 1985. In 1989 there was a break with Hans Ziller, in 1992 Lessmann also got out. The two began making music together again in 1992, initially as Lessmann / Ziller and in 1993 published the extended play Glaub dran . Two single releases followed. While they were buying back the name Bonfire from their former bandmates, the two wrote the theme song for Charlie & Louise - Das doppelte Lottchen . Since 1995 the band around Lessmann and Ziller has been operating under Bonfire again.

Lessmann also sang the Bayern Munich anthem Stern des Südens in 1998 , which was composed by Willy Astor , and is featured on the album Heimspiel by Bayern fans United. He is also the singer of Schanzer Herz , the club song of FC Ingolstadt, with Bonfire .

In an announcement to Proud of My Country , Lessmann accused “the Jews ” of “still” earning money from the Holocaust to this day, and demanded: “That must end! We finally want to be proud of our country again! ”. The announcement was recorded during the concert and posted on YouTube. In the blog malfunction indicator of the time in January Jetter wrote that Lessmann thus "made manifest in many ways a New Right have nerve" hit.

In October 2014, Bonfire separated from Lessmann. He then released two albums with his new band Phantom 5 .
