Claus Lichtenberger

Claus Lichtenberger (born April 13, 1950 in Dresden ) was a football player in the GDR. In the top division of the league , he played for Dynamo Dresden from 1971 to 1975 . He was GDR champion in 1973 and 1976.

Lichtenberger started his football career in his hometown in 1958 with the company sports association (BSG) Motor TuR Dresden-Uebigau . At the age of ten, he moved to the soccer section of the then top Dresden club SC Einheit Dresden . In 1966, the football section was spun off and in future took on as FSV Lok Dresden . The 1.79 m tall Lichtenberger completed his first men's games with the FSV from 1968. In November 1969 he had to start his military service, but was able to continue playing football in the third-class district league Dresden during the year and a half with the army sports community Vorwärts Löbau .

After his discharge from the army, Lichtenberger joined the current GDR soccer champion and cup winner Dynamo Dresden in the summer of 1971. There he was active for five seasons, but did not get beyond the role of a substitute player. For his first league use he came on the 7th match day of the 1971/72 season. In the match between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Dynamo Dresden (1: 1) on November 6, 1971, he was called up as a center forward for 82 minutes . In this season he was called up a total of ten times in the league team. In the championship 1972/73 Lichtenberger was involved with nine missions, three of which were full-time games. In this season Lichtenberger was part of the squad of the GDR youth national team. With her he played three international matches between November 1972 and April 1973. In the 1973/74 season there were only five short-term appearances for him in the major league, while in 1974/75 he played in six of nine appearances over the full distance. In these full-time encounters he was called up as a midfielder. He spent his last season at Dynamo Dresden in 1975/76, in which he was only used as a defender on matchday 10. With this one game, however, he was GDR champion for the second time. In total, Lichtenberger played 34 league games in which he scored four goals. Of the 24 European Cup games played during his time , he completed four matches (1 goal). Dynamo Dresden was in the final of the GDR soccer cup three times during Lichtenberger's time . Dresden never won and Lichtenberger was never called up in any final.

For the 1976/77 season, the 26-year-old Lichtenberger returned to the FSV Lok Dresden. There he played until 1984 as a midfielder in the second-rate GDR league . From 1979 on he was team captain, in the 1980/81 season he was a qualified sports teacher and player coach.
