Claus Seibel

Claus Seibel (born September 16, 1936 in Gießen ) is a German television journalist .

Life

Claus Seibel studied German and history in Marburg as well as journalism and theater studies at the Free University of Berlin . After a traineeship at the Hessischer Rundfunk , he was head of the radio news service at the Frankfurt broadcaster from 1963 to 1970 and became broadcast manager in 1970.

In 1970 he applied as a newscaster for the Second German Television and was chosen alongside Werner Schmidt after a selection process. He spoke his first news today on July 1, 1971. Seibel was the news anchor until 1973; then with the program reform of the ZDF in October 1973, he became the “ editor in the studio ” and from then on presented the main edition of today's broadcast at 7 pm. 1998 ended his employment as an editor; Seibel then continued to speak as a freelancer .

In 2003 he spoke for the last time on the 7 p.m. broadcast of the ZDF-Nachrichten and with 30 years of service he was the longest-serving studio editor of heute -Nachrichten. Until 2004 he was seen in the afternoon programs today and in the weekend editions. After more than 34 years, he went into professional retirement.
