Claus Zeng

Claus Zeng (born September 12, 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer , a judge at the Federal Court of Justice since 2013 and a member of the Federal Intelligence Service’s independent committee for the control of foreign-international telecommunications intelligence since 2017 .

Life

After passing the second state examination in Hamburg, he joined the judicial service of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1995 . Here he initially worked for the Neubrandenburg public prosecutor and as a judge at the Ueckermünde district court . In January 1999 he was appointed judge at the Pasewalk District Court . From 2001 to 2003 he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant .

In December 2004 he moved to the Rostock Higher Regional Court . For the period from August 2007 to October 2009 he was seconded to the Ministry of Justice of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In September 2009 he was appointed Vice President of the Schwerin Regional Court . With his appointment as judge at the Federal Court of Justice, he was assigned to the 1st criminal division, but already switched to the 2nd criminal division on July 15, 2013 . On March 8, 2017, at the suggestion of the President of the Federal Court of Justice, Zeng was appointed by the Federal Cabinet for six years as an assessor in the Federal Intelligence Service’s independent committee for monitoring the international-foreign telecommunications intelligence.
