The Dülmen Clemens-Brentano-Gymnasium is next to the Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff Gymnasium one of the two high schools in the city of Dülmen . It goes back to the grammar school founded in 1911 for the 600th anniversary of the city of Dülmen in the building of today's "Hermann-Leeser-Schule", a secondary school. It is named after Clemens Brentano , who was connected to the city of Dülmen through Anna Katharina Emmerick . Colloquially, the grammar school is known under the abbreviation "CBG". In autumn 2012 the grammar school celebrated its 100th anniversary with a week of festivities.

history

The Clemens-Brentano-Gymnasium was housed in the building of today's Hermann-Leeser-Schule when it was founded.

On the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the city of Dülmen in 1911, the Prussian state granted permission to expand the existing Latin or Rector's school into a full high school. 1912 is considered to be the actual year of foundation. The history of the Rector's School goes back much further: The first reference to a school in Dülmen can be found in the statutes of the Viktorstift from 1323.

The school building was not completed until 1921 because of the war years of the First World War. In 1973 the company moved to the new, significantly enlarged school building. The old building now houses the Hermann-Leeser-Schule (municipal secondary school).

In 1962, the poet Clemens Brentano was named the school's namesake. Clemens Brentano lived temporarily in Dülmen in the 19th century and visited the nun Anna Katharina Emmerick there .

Changeover to all-day operation

In 2010, the grammar school switched to full-time instruction with the new school year. The consequences were, on the one hand, the complete renovation of the school and the expansion of the range of lessons on the part of clubs and cultural institutions from Dülmen and the surrounding area. Most of the renovation was completed in 2012, and the new canteen was completed in summer 2014. The conversion was financed largely from the economic stimulus package II . The all-day concept consists of three compulsory full days (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) and the optional full day (Tuesday). School closes on Friday after the end of the 6th lesson. In the upper secondary level there are all-day classes every day.

principal

Bernd Vogt was the headmaster until 2011, in the summer he was replaced by Wolfgang Weber for reasons of age. He was previously the headmaster of the German School in Helsinki.

Maike Verwey has headed the CBG since the 2017/18 school year. She was previously the deputy headmistress of the Haranni-Gymnasium in Herne .

Musical for the city anniversary

On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the city of Dülmen, students and teachers presented five performances of the musical "The inevitable journey of Karl Gross" in July 2011. The musical was written by Irmhild Willenbrink and Marcus Fischer, directed by Karl-Heinz Laschke and Manfred Molitor, the music and organization were in the hands of Oxana Kolomiets, the set was supported by Henry Usenos (Pump House Münster) and the choreography by Antje Leushacke-Berning. The choir was led by Marinus Schmidt. The proceeds went towards the renovation of the school.

In June, the WDR reported on the public rehearsals in an issue of "Lokalzeit Münsterland".
