Clemens Ganz
Clemens Ganz (born January 18, 1935 in Eiweiler ) is a German church musician . He is a brother of Johannes Ganz .
education
Ganz studied church and school music at the University of Music in Cologne with Hermann Schroeder and Josef Zimmermann . He passed the A-exam and the concert exam .
Professional and teaching activity
From 1964 to 1976 he worked as a cantor at St. Marien in Cologne-Kalk . From 1971 to 1998 he taught organ, organ improvisation and choral conducting as a professor at the University of Music in Cologne. 1985 to 2001 he worked as a cathedral organist at Cologne Cathedral . Together with Philipp Klais and Hans-Wolfgang Theobald , Ganz planned and organized the construction of the new Klais organ in the nave of Cologne Cathedral. The swallow's nest organ was inaugurated in 1998. In addition, the revision and rebuilding of the large transept organ of Cologne Cathedral (2001/2002) can be traced back to his initiative and co-planning. From 1999 to 2011 he headed the international organ competition for the Hermann Schroeder Prize as the jury chairman.
