Cletus Colaço

Cletus Colaço SVD (born August 8, 1953 in Mumbai ) is an Indian religious priest and sociologist .

Life

He earned his master's degree in social science in 1978 with a focus on organizational sociology and management. From 1978 to 1981 he founded and directed the Serva Seva Sangh , an SVD social development program for industrial unions in Pune . After the theological bachelor's degree at the Pontifical Atheneum Pune of the Jesuits , he was ordained a priest on April 26, 1981. At the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, he was in 1984 a doctorate in sociology doctorate . At the Pontificio Ateneo Sant'Anselmo in Rome , he obtained a licentiate in theology (1991) and a doctorate in theology (1994) with a focus on mission theology . From 1983 to 1988 and from 1995 to 1999 he was first a lecturer, then professor at the state university (social science faculty) and head of the university of the Archdiocese of Bhopal . From 1999 to 2005 he was national mission secretary of the Steyler Provinces in India , Provincial , Vice-Grand Chancellor of the SVD University in Bhopal and was elected second chairman of the National Conference of Religious Superiors of India in 2002. In 2005 he was transferred to the German province of the Steyler Missionaries. From 2005 to 2009 he worked at the Mission Studies Institute in Sankt Augustin and as a lecturer at the PTH St. Augustin until 2011 . Since 2009 he has been the head of the English-speaking Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising pastorally with a focus on missions in Europe within the framework of mission theology and the new evangelization of the Catholic Church. He is the representative of the English-speaking congregations in Germany at the German Bishops' Conference for Foreign Pastoral Care. Since 2011 he has been teaching sociology and mission theology as a professor at the PTH St. Augustin .

His main research interests are social work, organizational sociology and management, social doctrine of the church, mission theological history and development in practice.
