Clinton is a town in Oneida County in the US state of New York with 1,942 inhabitants (2010 census). Clinton is named after the first Governor of New York and later Vice President of the United States, George Clinton .

The village of Clinton is home to, among other things, Hamilton College and is part of the city of Kirkland and is known as the village of schools because numerous private schools were located there in the 19th century.

history

The first settlement in modern times took place around 1787. The village was incorporated into Kirkland in 1843.
