Clisura Dunării (also Defileul Dunării , German  Danube Defilee , Serbian Банатска Клисура Banatska Klisura ) is the slang term for the geographical region along the Romanian bank of the Danube in the south of the Banat . The Danube Defile extends between Baziaș and the Danube breakthrough valley Iron Gate and is part of the Iron Gate Nature Park .

Localities

The largest settlements are the cities of Orșova and Moldova Nouă , as well as the municipalities of Socol , Pojejena , Coronini , Gârnic , Sichevița , Berzasca , Svinița , Dubova , Eșelnița , Ilovița and Breznița-Ocol .

population

The valley is mainly inhabited by Romanians and Serbs . Some localities have a Serb majority. These are: Socol, Pojejena and Svinița. There are also some Czech parishes, especially in Gârnic. Germans also live in Orșova .
