content

A children's choir made up of fourth and fifth graders from the Brooklyn Friends School, a Quaker school , and retirees from a Jewish senior citizen center in Brooklyn, come together for a concert, as has been the custom for years.

Both the children and the senior citizens practiced separately for the concert over several months. They communicated with each other through letters and finally met for a rehearsal before the concert was on the program. In this way, the children succeeded in breaking down prejudices against older people and allowing them to adjust to young people again. The main focus of the film is on the interplay between young and old people and their respective point of view and how it can change.

Production, background

It is a Noble Enterprises production published by Joan Emma Morris. The film was shot at the Brooklyn Friends School in Brooklyn as well as in New York and the Council Center for Seniors in Brooklyn.

Some of the children who sang in the choir later went into the entertainment industry. Nigel Noble came up with the idea for the film after his son was one of the children who belonged to the Brooklyn School choir. It was also his idea to develop pen pals between the children and the elderly for the film in order to establish a connection between the two groups in advance.
