Batzra ( Hebrew בָּצְרָה) is an Israeli moshaw in the Sharon Plain in the central district . It is located near the city of Raʿanana and has 1217 inhabitants (2018).

history

The moshav was founded in 1946 by demobilized Zahal soldiers who were training in the British Army . The settlement was named after the Iraqi city of Basra , where its unit was temporarily stationed during World War II . In 1947 Batzra had 80 inhabitants. Thereafter, with the arrival of South African Jews , that number increased significantly.

The moshav was founded on the area of the former Palestinian village of Tabsur , which was depopulated by Israel in April 1948 .

Batzra belongs to the Agricultural Union .
