Clóvis Acosta Fernandes (born October 4, 1954 in Cruz Alta , Rio Grande do Sul ; † September 16, 2015 in Porto Alegre ) was a Brazilian football fan who was known as "Gaúcho da Copa".

Clovis Fernandes was a businessman from Porto Alegre in southern Brazil. Since his visit abroad on the occasion of the Soccer World Cup with his Brazilian national team in Italy in 1990, he had already attended more than 150 national team games and was present in over 30 countries. He jokingly referred to himself as “12. Player". His trademark was a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy that he always carried with him.

In the early 1990s he founded the fan community "Gaúchos na Copa". Already known in South America, he gained great international fame after the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup between Brazil and Germany . After the defeat, he was photographed crying with the trophy in his arms. This image of “Brazil's saddest fan” was seen by many international media as a symbol of Brazil's historic 7-1 defeat in this semi-final. After the game he gave his trophy, which he took to every game for years, to a German fan, but got it back for the next game. Markus Lanz introduced Clovis Fernandes in his ZDF program Menschen 2014 .

A year later he was in Chile at the Copa America 2015 , where he could look forward to his team's 2-1 victory over Peru, but Brazil did not make it through the quarter-finals. On September 16, 2015, Fernandes died of cancer.
