club légère was a German funk - soul band from Ingolstadt .
history
The band was formed in 2004 around the guitarist Hakan Cesur, the drummer Claus Böhm alias "DJ Oldschool" and the bassist Nils Dinter. Karin Lindauer, aka "Karin Smoothvoice", was the lead singer. With the winds Martin Wenninger, Alexandra Feichtlbauer, geb. Görlitz, and Thomas Fieber, the septet was complete for the time being.
One year after the founding, the band recorded their debut maxi-single Earth Beat in the Magic Mango Music studio , which was released in 2006 and features a remix by DJane Gillian Gordon . In the same year the band won the regional Aqua Turbo Contest in the youth center Fronte '79 in Ingolstadt , which is regularly organized by the online community megazin.de (megazin Media Verlag). In a voting competition of the record company EMG in April 2006, the band won the debut single entitled Lifetime , which then appeared on the sampler Hitpack New Pop Vol. 3 . A video production by the Munich company PeRo-Film was also associated with the win . In the end, the band did not win the record contract awarded by EMG for the final.
Then there were changes in the line-up. Again at Magic Mango, an album with 13 tracks was produced in 2009, which was released in mid-2010. At the release event in Ingolstadt's community center "Diagonal", the band played in the cast: Karin Lindauer (lead vocals), Katja Richter (accompanying vocals), Julia Scheufler (saxophone), Gregor Spreng ( piano ), Hakan Cesur (guitar), Nils Dinter (Bass) and Claus Böhm (drums).
In 2010, Lindauer decided to train as a professional singer in Hamburg and separated from the band. Gradually there were symptoms of disintegration. The formation finally disbanded in 2013 after other band members also devoted themselves to other projects. Cesur founded the funk rock band Jammin # July together with Michaela Goß and others in 2012 , but stayed with club légère until the end.
style
The band described their style of music as "C-Funk", which stood for club-oriented funk music . The self-composed and arranged songs also use elements from soul , swing and jazz .
