The Clubul Alpin Român ( CAR ; German  Romanian Alpine Club ) is an alpine club based in Bucharest in Romania . It was founded in 1934 .

history

In 1933 Nicolae Dimitrie, a member of a group called Gruparea Alpină , had the idea of founding an association that would bring together Romanian mountaineers. At that time, however, he could only bring together eight people. According to Romanian law at the time, that was not enough for a club to be founded. So they decided to join an older club called ADMIR .

The first year was full of intense activity. Among other things, the magazine Buletinul Alpin was founded, which published mountain routes. Various excursions for mountain lovers were also organized.

After a year of cooperation with the parent association ADMIR , the Alpine group withdrew and founded the Clubul Alpin Român on March 18, 1934 .
