Coats is a British company with significant German roots that dates back to the first half of the 18th century. It is the world's largest manufacturer of sewing and handicraft threads, the second largest manufacturer of zippers and one of the largest manufacturers of handicraft accessories such as sewing and knitting needles . The turnover in 2013 was 1.1 billion pounds worldwide and 74 million pounds in Germany.
