The Cobblers Cove is a small cove on the north coast of South Georgia . It represents an anchorage 800 m west of the entrance to Godthul Bay .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1929 and named it Pleasant Cove . This name did not catch on. The South Georgia Survey reported between 1951 and 1952 that the bay was known as Skomaker Hullet ( Norwegian for Shoemaker's Bay ). It was named after a Norwegian gunner , who anchored here in thick fog and was previously a shoemaker . The name was translated into English in 1956 and has been established in this form ever since.
