Cobra was a hard rock band from the USA , which released an album in 1983 and whose most famous musicians were the later survivor singer Jimi Jamison and the former crocus - and later Asia guitarist Mandy Meyer .

history

Cobra was created in 1982 in Memphis (Tennessee) , with the line-up Jimi Jamison, (vocals, ex-Target, † August 31, 2014 in Memphis), Mandy Meyer (guitar, ex-crocus), Jack Holder (guitar, ex- Black Oak Arkansas ), Tommy Keizer (bass) and Jeff Klaven (drums). The first and only album First Strike was produced by Tom Allom (including Judas Priest ) and was released in 1983. In the British music magazine Kerrang! The album took number 1 on the import charts. After concerts in the United States (with Quiet Riot , Nazareth and Krokus, among others ), singer Jamison received the offer to replace Dave Bickler at Survivor, which meant the end of the band.

In 1985 Van Zant released the song I'm A Fighter , penned by Meyer and Jamison and originally written for the planned but never recorded second Cobra album. The piece climbed to number 30 on the US Billboard Singles Chart and is a popular anthem in American WWF wrestling matches.

In 1994 the Swiss rock band Gotthard recorded the Cobra song Travelin 'Man . Mandy Meyer, the composer of this song, joined Gotthard three years later. In 2002 Gotthard covered another song from Cobra's debut album. Looking At You appeared on the ballad album One Life One Soul .
