Cock Robin is an American band that had their greatest successes between fall 1985 and summer 1987. The group is assigned to the genre of New Wave . The name of the band is derived from the nursery rhyme “Who killed Cock Robin?”.
Band history
Front man , singer , bassist and keyboardist Peter Kingsbery formed the band in Los Angeles in 1982 . Anna LaCazio became the singer . In their homeland the band was largely unsuccessful; in Europe she had great success with the singles When Your Heart Is Weak (1985), the duet The Promise You Made (1986) from the debut album Cock Robin and the release Just Around the Corner from the album After Here Through Midland (1987 ). The band had the most fans in Germany , France , Italy , the Netherlands and Switzerland .
The guitarist Clive Wright and drummer Lou Molino left the band; Kingsbery and LaCazio released the second album After Here Through Midland as a duo. Kingsbery continued the band with a new drummer, Denny Fongheiser. The third album First Love / Last Rites (1989) - again with a new line-up - was not a commercial success. After a last tour of Germany, Kingsbery broke up the band in mid-1990. In the same year CBS brought out a best-of album as part of the Gold Collection .
Kingsbery and LaCazio dabbled in solo careers. Anna LaCazio's album never came out; Peter Kingsbery released solo albums with fair success, especially for the French market, and cooperated among others. a. with Cyndi Lauper .
In July 2006 the band was reactivated. Kingsbery and LaCazio returned with the album I Don't Want to Save the World ; this was mainly marketed in France (e.g. with some appearances on TV shows and radio stations). An announced tour did not take place because Anna LaCazio became pregnant.
With the release of their live album Live , LaCazio and Kingsbery continued their comeback in 2009 with concerts in France and the Netherlands. This album was hardly promoted in Germany either; in France, however, the band had some television appearances. The first response was so positive that the release of Anna LaCazio's long-lost solo album Eat Life was planned for the summer of 2009 and a new Cock Robin album for 2010. Together with the new album, seven concerts took place in Germany in 2011.
