Codivarta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The white variety Codivarta is an autochthonous variety from the island of Corsica . Due to very similar characteristics, the ampelographer Pierre Galet suspects a relationship with the Italian variety Coda di Volpe . A final review of this thesis is still pending. The Codivarta variety is permitted in the AOC wine Vin de Corse , but is rarely grown. However, efforts are being made to improve the variety in terms of viticulture through targeted clone selection.

The late-ripening variety is very productive and not very susceptible to classic vine diseases.

Synonyms: Cadiverta, Codivarte Blanc, Codivertola Blanc, Cudiverta, Cudivèrte, Cudivarta.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. The young leaves are only hairy cobwebs and speckled bronze-colored ( anthocyanin spots ).
  • The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and deeply indented (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open. The leaf margin is serrated to a point.
  • The conical to cylindrical grape is large (approx. 25 cm long) and has dense berries. The rounded, elliptical berries are medium-sized and whitish in color.

The grape variety ripens almost 30 - 35 days after the Gutedel . It is therefore considered to ripen late. Codivarta is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).
